Henry County team wins HBCU Smart Cities pitch; demo scheduled at noon

County stormwater director Jose de Jesus and Pathway Community Foundation presented the HBCU Smart Cities program update and announced that the Henry County team won first place in the competition.
Ayinde Simon, president/director of partnerships at Pathway Community Foundation, described objectives of surfacing HBCU talent and building tangible solutions for local governments: “So my name is Ayinde Simon. I run Pathway Community Foundation.” He said the student team built a dashboard and a hardware/software sensor solution to detect real‑time flood issues and will present a live demo at noon in the meeting room. Commissioners praised the inclusion of Henry County students and asked staff to note the schools involved so the school board can recognize them.
