Henry County adopted a sponsorship and naming‑rights ordinance intended to create a uniform approach for sponsorship agreements for county facilities, programs and services.
County attorney Rachel Mac explained the ordinance would permit solicited opportunities to use competitive procurement (RFPs) and allow evaluation factors beyond price — such as reputation and community involvement — while preserving county ownership and public access. Mac said the policy includes termination for convenience and indemnification clauses and prohibits political entities, tobacco/vaping, or harmful content from sponsorships: “It would generate revenue that would go directly to operating and maintenance costs for these programs and facilities.” The board discussed grandfathering existing agreements and the purpose of using sponsorship revenue for maintenance and operations; the ordinance was approved and the second reading was waived.
