Elko County to study alternate Spring Creek route; no new debt planned now

An Elko County representative told the Debt Management Commission that the county's annual debt management plan and the indebtedness reports for subsidiary towns were updated and that "there's no new debt planned for the county" at this time. The representative noted the county currently has outstanding jackpot bonds and water revenue bonds but said county tax-rate capacity exists if projects proceed.
Commissioners asked whether the county was part of discussions for an alternate route from Spring Creek to the highway. County staff responded that "the county is authorized to study and will be choosing an engineering firm to study possible routes and the cost," and cautioned that construction would be expensive and dependent on finding a funding source. The commission recorded approval of Elko County's report without authorizing debt issuance for that project.
