Geneva County renews ACCA self-insurer membership through 2027

The Geneva County Commission voted 2-0 on Oct. 15 to renew the county’s membership in the Association of County Commissions of Alabama (ACCA) Workers' Compensation Self-Insurers Fund through Sept. 30, 2027. Commissioners Wade Fulford and Bart Wilks moved and seconded the resolution, and the motion carried with the two commissioners present.
The resolution notes that the Fund is offering a 2024 Longevity Bonus to participant counties that remain active through at least Sept. 30, 2027, and it requires that Geneva County return any such bonus plus five percent annual interest if the county voluntarily withdraws before that date. County Attorney Phil Eldridge introduced the petition item that same meeting and handled procedural matters regarding notices for other agenda items. The Commission’s action was procedural and required no additional appropriation.
