Representatives of the Monongalia County Youth Livestock Association and a delegation of 4‑H and FFA students appeared before the commission to preview a multi‑day schedule of events at the Mon County Center and at the Patel District Fairgrounds. The association listed times for the goat, lamb and rabbit shows (Thursday at 5 p.m.), cattle and hog shows (Friday), and poultry and turkey shows (Saturday morning at 9), with a buyer's dinner and auction on Saturday evening. The group asked commissioners and residents to attend and support youth exhibitors.
Multiple youth speakers described what they learned from livestock projects, how proceeds help fund education, and why the programs matter for character and career development. "Training a 600 pound animal to walk with you takes a lot of patience and time," said Logan Triplett. Commissioners praised the students and encouraged public support for upcoming shows.
