Elko County responders report Jake's fire, multiple hazmat responses and a train fuel leak

Elko County Fire Chief Matt Peterson told the committee the department responded to the Jake's fire and several related incidents, including a hydraulic‑fluid spill. "We had a large hydro well, a small to medium hydraulics spill," he said; he submitted an after‑action report for state submission and said BLM supported mitigation and cleanup.
The chair said environmental staff reported a train that leaked fuel and he will forward the report to determine whether it should be classified for the State Emergency Response Commission. Committee members were asked to submit incidents or trainings they consider relevant for hazardous‑incident reporting or training use.
Peterson also noted several semi trailer fires, structure fires and hazmat mitigation responses that included gross decontamination. No formal action was taken; the committee requested that incident reports and AARs be filed for possible state reporting or training use.
