Putnam County commissioners approve septic ordinance language to match state model

The Putnam County Board of Commissioners voted Nov. 18 to update county septic ordinance verbiage to match a state model ordinance, following a presentation by Health Department representative Brian Williams.
"We received a model ordinance from the State," Brian Williams said, and county staff proposed changing the county ordinance language to match the state model. Commissioner Tom Helmer moved to approve the change and Commissioner Rick Woodall seconded; the motion passed unanimously.
County staff said the change is intended to bring local regulations into alignment with the state's template; no new fee schedule or enforcement changes were announced at the meeting. The Commissioners did not identify an effective date at the meeting and directed staff to proceed with the language change as presented.
