Board approves recommended hires and contract renewals after closed session

Following a closed session under Texas Government Code §551.074, the board reconvened and took action on personnel matters.
Trustee Bridgette Marshall moved — and Margaret Pruitt seconded — to employ the administrators recommended by district administration. The hires approved included Sean Douglas as assistant principal at Victoria East High School; Elise Lopez as fine-arts director in academic services; Autumn McManus as a data systems specialist in technology; and Pamela Astute as district bond assistant under administrative services. The motion carried 7–0.
The board also approved contract renewals as recommended by administration by unanimous vote. Trustees did not discuss details of individual contracts on the public record beyond the motion and vote.
