House approves two‑year moratorium on new approvals for out‑of‑state nursing programs

"They're asking for a 2 year moratorium on new approvals of out of state nursing programs seeking to operate or place students in Tennessee clinical sites," Chairman Terry said on the floor, describing the measure as designed to protect quality, transparency and patient safety. The clerk recorded the floor vote and the chair declared the bill passed on third consideration.
Next steps: implementing bodies (Board of Nursing and Tennessee Center for Nursing Advancement) will be responsible for developing standards and oversight mechanisms during the moratorium period.
