House approves measure giving LEA teachers priority for pre‑K seats

‘‘This bill seeks to include students of educators working for the LEA,’’ the sponsor said, adding the change preserves existing at‑risk slots. The bill carried on a recorded vote that the clerk announced as 94 ayes and no nays, meeting the constitutional majority required for passage.
Floor members asked procedural questions but there were no successful amendments during the debate. The change is administrative and the sponsor said it aligns placement rules rather than expanding program size. The bill now proceeds to the process steps required before becoming law.
