Katie Sandifer, executive director and producer for this year’s Fourth on Broadway, told the court the event dates to 1991 and will include a parade, a ‘picnic under the stars,’ an evening concert and a fireworks display. "We have an estimated attendance every year of 100,000 people," Sandifer said, and she described new parade routing and partnership roles for Civic Lubbock and Stage Lehi Productions.
Judge Parrish moved to fund the event with $10,000 from unclaimed funds, the motion was seconded and carried unanimously. Sandifer said sponsorships cover logistics such as parking, signage and staging; the court noted Broadway construction beginning July 5 and encouraged public attendance.
