Brewster County retires longtime K9 'Latex' and accepts new drug dog Milo

During the sheriff’s presentation, a sheriff’s‑office staff member (speaker 6) introduced the new dog: “His his name is Milo,” the staff member said, noting Milo is about 15 months old and still completing training. The court later voted to accept Milo as the department’s new drug dog.
The court discussed handling for both animals, including separate kennels and phased socialization for Milo. The judge also asked staff to consider bringing the county’s bomb dog to a future meeting for public familiarity. The outcome recorded in open session was that the court approved retiring Latex and accepted Milo into the sheriff’s K9 program.
