Commissioners add EMS vehicle purchase to agenda, agree to table pending more research

Commissioners voted to add an EMS vehicle purchase to the Oct. 7 agenda so staff could pursue buying a side-by-side vehicle intended for special events and bad-weather response.
Kelly Russ told the board she had two quotes: $29,635 for a vehicle with no retrofitting and $22,585 for another option. "They're looking to get a side-by-side vehicle for special events and bad weather," Russ said. Questions were raised about why the EMS budget had sufficient funds for the purchase; Russ said she had overestimated earlier projections.
Commissioner Rick Woodall asked for more research on the procurement and moved to table further action; Commissioners Berry and Helmer agreed. The board did not take a vote to buy the vehicle at the meeting and left the item for future consideration.
