County staff asked the board to accept a $500 contribution from a workforce development core team to support a "Super Saturday" childcare training event scheduled for Sept. 26. "Lauren Solomar, licensor is planning the Super Saturday Day event here in Houston County," staff said, describing plans to host DCYF staff, the state fire marshal for extinguisher checks, an ombudsman and a navigator to bring resources to local childcare providers.
The board moved, seconded and approved acceptance of the contribution by voice vote. Staff said funds will be used for door prizes and food to encourage local providers to attend a one‑day regional training that the county hopes will increase local provider participation in mandatory or recommended trainings.
