Gooding County adopts Resolution 2026‑01‑20 authorizing destruction of older county and EMS records

At its Jan. 20 meeting the Gooding County Board of County Commissioners adopted Resolution No. 2026-01-20 authorizing the destruction of county records that have met minimum retention periods.
The adopted resolution cites Idaho Code 31-871, noting that the County Clerk had proposed destruction of records that exceeded minimum retention requirements and that approvals from the Idaho State Historical Society and the County Attorney had been obtained when required. The resolution lists the material approved for destruction, including “Patient Care Reports 2005-2022,” miscellaneous contracts (2004–2005), grants (2009–2014), personnel records from several years, agency training logs and financial listings such as claims and collections reports.
Commissioner Ronald Buhler moved to adopt the resolution and Commissioner Vern Eames seconded; the minutes record the motion carried. The resolution directs the destruction of original paper records under the supervision of the County Clerk.
