Councilperson Williams flags garage in Harris County flood-control right of way

Williams said Harris County is negotiating with the landowner and "they're in contact with the real estate attorney" about options, adding the county may remove roughly 12 feet of the structure if negotiations fail.
Williams noted the garage was permitted by the city and that the encroachment appears to have been missed on the survey and by title searches; she said the structure was built in 2017 and that, "Harris County has been collecting the tax revenue off of this garage since 2017 and didn't have a problem with it up to now." Williams urged the committee to be aware of the issue because it is one of the obstructions holding up portions of the project.
