Providence Academy wins conditional final-plat approval for new 50,000 sq ft campus

Providence Academy's request to finalize a 10-acre campus plat was approved 4-1 by Rockwall County Commissioners after a technical review flagged outstanding items. Alyssa Malden, head of school, told the court the project would replace the school's leased site with a 50,000-square-foot K-12 facility and multipurpose center; she emphasized the school serves nearly 300 students and that the team had engaged with local open-space groups.

County staff and Friese & Nichols listed several remaining conditions — an approved construction-plan set, recorded easements for drainage, flood and time-of-concentration calculations, and evidence of fire protection arrangements with Royce City. Commissioner Stacy moved to approve the plat conditioned on Friese & Nichols' technical letter dated Sept. 6 and the county infrastructure checklist; the motion carried 4-1. Malden said the school had purchased 10 acres from Generations Church and plans to build a gym and eventually a football field.
