Employment & Training reports increased enrollments, employer partnerships and upcoming job fair

Employment & Training Director Kelly King briefed the committee on program activity and partnerships.
King reported nine classroom training enrollments (six adults, one dislocated worker, two youth), 401 customers served in February and a year‑to‑date total of 3,757 customers. Training completions include welders and electrical maintenance students with job placements—one Welder/Fitter secured full‑time employment effective February 24, 2025. The Cayuga Works Mini Job Fair is scheduled for April 2, 2025 and will include local employers and workforce partners.
King said the team is coordinating with Cayuga Onondaga BOCES, Auburn Housing Authority, Kelberman Center and others on training and worksite placements, and is planning a Spring into STEM event for May 1, 2025. Staff also reported new worksite agreements and pending WIOA applications and work experiences.
The committee received the update; no formal action was recorded on E&T program items during the meeting.
