County will install solar and EV chargers using NYSERDA funds and incentives

County planners told the committee they have funding lined up for local clean energy projects and EV infrastructure.
Planner Emily Antonacci reported the county received two NYSERDA Clean Energy Communities awards totaling $135,000 ($10,000 and $125,000) that will cover components and installation costs for solar panels on the motor pool roof, potential solar at Parks & Trails offices, and up to four public EV charging stations at Emerson Park. The county expects installation to begin in spring 2025 and intends to supplement grant dollars with IRA Direct Pay tax credits, NY‑SUN incentives and Make Ready utility incentives.
The presentation noted that these incentives, together with grant funds, should cover the project costs; staff are working with the Purchasing Director and highway and parks staff to secure vendors. The committee recorded the planned actions as part of the department’s implementation calendar.
