Emergency Management updates committee on nuclear planning and Ginna tax‑credit discussions

Emergency Management Services Director George Bastedo told the Wayne County Public Safety Committee on Jan. 6 that staff submitted a proposal to Constellation and are coordinating nuclear planning with County GIS and administration. Bastedo asked Committee members to attend a Public Officials Conference scheduled for Jan. 21 at the Emergency Management office.
County Administrator Mark Humbert added that the state appears inclined to offer tax credits that could support renewal of the Ginna nuclear facility, and staff are continuing interdepartmental planning. The Committee received an Authorization to Apply for Public Safety Grant Programs transmittal from Emergency Management, which was approved 4-0.
Bastedo said the department is working closely with GIS and other staff on nuclear-planning matters; Humbert and staff will continue to coordinate with state and industry stakeholders as information develops.
