County reports multiple downtown and waterfront grant efforts, including Route 90 DRI and a $1M Restore NY application

County planning staff reported ongoing Downtown Revitalization Initiative (DRI) and NY Forward efforts across multiple villages, and confirmed a Restore NY grant application for a waterfront project.
Director Kari Terwilliger said the Cayuga Lake Route 90 Strategic Investment Plan (SIP) was submitted to New York State at the end of 2024; the State will select projects from the SIP for DRI funds with awards anticipated in spring 2025. Senior Planner Evan Tuthill said the Restore NY application for the Beacon Bay Marina redevelopment was submitted on December 19, 2024 seeking $1,000,000; award notifications are expected in June or July 2025.
The Village of Moravia received a $300,000 NY Forward Small Project Grant Fund as part of a larger $2.25 million NY Forward award in 2023 and the county is contracting with the state to administer an RFP for consultants to implement the fund; staff anticipate selecting a firm by late spring. Planner Nathaniel Rogers briefed the committee on Weedsport’s dual submissions (DRI $10M, NY Forward $4.5M) made October 18, and noted that the village would receive either DRI or NY Forward funding, not both.
Committee members were updated on timelines and next steps; staff framed these programs as interrelated opportunities for downtown revitalization and waterfront redevelopment.
