Director Kari Terwilliger said the state program allows counties to apply for infrastructure funding that can be re-granted to municipalities; the county would re-grant the award to the City of Auburn, which would administer the funds and the required matching contributions, and the county would have no post-award staffing or funding commitments beyond recouping its application costs from the developer.
The committee voted to refer resolution 2-25-PL-3 (authorizing submittal of the grant application) to the full Legislature for consideration. Terwilliger said the Legislature will receive a presentation on the project and the grant at its February 27 meeting.
