County jail reports 280 screened; 123 enrolled in Medicaid, EDOVO program to start in April

Nicholas Lynch reported to the SUD Subcommittee that the county jail screened 280 incarcerated individuals and 123 were accepted into Medicaid enrollment, a step officials said is intended to increase access to treatment while in custody.
Lynch said the jail participates in Medically Assisted Treatment (MAT) and that group treatment is proceeding well. He also said the jail signed up to participate in EDOVO beginning in April; EDOVO offers remote education and vocational courses for incarcerated people and Lynch said participation is free for those in the jail.
The minutes do not include a breakdown by offense, age, or program completion rates; the subcommittee recorded the statistics and discussed continued coordination with public defenders and assigned counsel regarding certifications and benefits available to participants.
