The Miami County Council reauthorized $650,000 from the Rainy Day fund on Jan. 20 so the commissioners can proceed with a courthouse remodel in 2026. Commissioner Musselman told the council the $650,000 figure represents a high-end estimate that could change depending on demolition and construction findings; the contractors and staff will refine costs as work begins.
Councilman Fruth moved to approve the reauthorization and the motion carried 7-0. Shortly after, Jacob Chavez of Elevatus provided a Zoom presentation to outline the basics of the courthouse remodel project and next steps to move from planning to construction.
