Council approves $107,083 appropriation for Community Corrections programs and vehicle upfitting

Community Corrections asked the council for a $107,083 appropriation from its project income fund to buy equipment and licenses for a virtual academy and to cover higher-than-expected vehicle upfitting costs. The council approved the appropriation unanimously.
Cody Fry said roughly $80,000 of the request will pay for laptops, tablets, charging carts and program licensing for cognitive behavioral therapy delivered in a residential virtual academy; the remainder covers vehicle upfitting for agency vehicles. Fry said the county will use opioid settlement funds via the commissioners' office as reimbursement for some of the costs.
The appropriation will allow Community Corrections to deploy program facilitators funded earlier in the budget process and to sustain a marketplace operations program for residents. The council approved the appropriation 6-0.
