Commissioners approve multiple Sheriff’s Office equipment purchases and budget moves

The Burnet County Commissioners Court on July 14 approved a package of equipment purchases and budget amendments for the Sheriff’s Office.
Chief Deputy Alan Trevino described departmental needs and the court approved three purchases from Mach/Equip (capitalized or inventoried) accounts: a Direct-link Throw Phone crisis response system from ETGI (sole-source) not to exceed $26,960.99; a Dell Pro 24 training-room computer not to exceed $1,731.03; and two DJI Matrice 4TD drones not to exceed $22,962. The court later approved additional purchases from another equipment fund: a Pix Case 'Computer in a Box' up to $925.35; a Cytop FT30-P UAV payload drop system up to $699; and Safariland body armor up to $8,299.50. All motions passed 5–0.
The court also approved a FY26 budget amendment transferring $8,712 from SB22 Interest to inventory funds to purchase rifle plates, and authorized moving $7,363.91 in proceeds from auctioned Sheriff's vehicles into contract services. Commissioners said the purchases are intended to support crisis response capabilities, training and field equipment; the transcript records approvals and dollar amounts but includes limited operational detail beyond staff remarks.
