Court approves joint primary-election services contract for 2026

Miss Byrd, identified in the meeting as the Howard County election officer, asked the court to approve a joint resolution authorizing a contract with both the Democratic and Republican party organizations to share certain primary election costs for 2026. Byrd said the resolution states the counties are responsible for some of those costs and that the joint agreement governs cost-sharing.
Commissioner Berry moved to approve the resolution and Commissioner Wagner seconded. The chair called for the ayes and the motion carried. The court instructed parties to sign the necessary documents after the vote.
