Commission approves county-initiated zoning map corrections for Airport Street area

Planning staff reported the completion of a multiyear review aligning rezoning cases since 1964 with the official zoning map; Haley and Ingram explained they found parcels where an old map had incorrectly shown larger areas as rezoned. Case P-24-15 is a county-initiated application to correct approximately 7.95 acres from A2 to B2 Business General to reflect current commercial use and to enable future development of vacant parcels that already have utilities and frontage on Airport Street.
Staff said the change is consistent with the comprehensive land use map and noted minimal impacts to public utilities, schools and public safety. Commissioners discussed outreach to property owners and confirmed the county had contacted affected owners; no public speakers signed up to oppose the mapping correction. The commission voted unanimously to recommend approval to the Board of Supervisors.
