"We're looking for local volunteers that can respond within 5, 10 minutes," Gomez said. He also said the chapter recently provided cots and blankets during winter weather and those supplies are being stored at the courthouse for local emergency use.
Gomez said the Red Cross will bring the "Sound the Alarm" campaign and local trainings to the county and is open to holding community events at local halls or centers. The proclamation was signed by Judge Johnson in open court; the county treated the read proclamation as a formal recognition rather than a contested action.
