Burnet County proposes 4% COLA for employees, 6% for elected officials in FY27 planning

The court voted unanimously July 7 to propose a 4% cost‑of‑living adjustment (COLA) for county employees and a 2% step increase, and to add an additional step to every pay scale for FY27. Treasurer Karrie Crownover and District Clerk Casie Walker spoke during the budget item; Commissioner Damon Beierle moved the employee compensation proposal and Commissioner Jim Luther Jr. seconded. Vote: 5–0.
Separately, the court approved a 6% COLA proposal for elected officials after County Clerk Vicinta Stafford and District Clerk Casie Walker spoke (motion moved by Commissioner Damon Beierle and seconded by Commissioner Chad Collier). Both items were placed for consideration in the FY27 proposed budget and use the insurance renewal estimate from the Texas Association of Counties packet as part of budget calculations.
