Commissioners accept low bids for emulsion and sealcoat; Bright Asphalt and CK Newberry win awards

Howard County's road engineer presented bid results for emulsion, sealcoat and other materials and recommended acceptance of the lowest responsible bidders. Bright Asphalt received the emulsion award after moving from second in prior years to the low bid; CK Newberry again won the sealcoat contract. The court moved to accept the low bidders and approved the action by voice vote.
Klintzik said he is confident in the low bidders and noted that relative scoring changed this year on emulsion, producing a different winner. Commissioners approved lumping the items together for acceptance of the low bids and told staff to proceed with procurement and contract administration.
