Banner Lake Director Kurt Zibell presented bids for sound panels and for boring to upgrade transformers at the Jan. 12 meeting. The low acoustical bid from Acoustical Solutions was $5,846.59; other acoustical bids were $13,966.00 and $41,750.00. For boring, the low bid from Haug Construction was $3,949.00 (other bids were $4,800.00 and $24,000.00). Commissioner Keith Kelly moved to approve the low acoustical and boring bids, and Commissioner Linda Gerhardt seconded; both motions carried 3–0.
The board then discussed whether volunteer firefighters should receive free entry to Banner Lake. Kurt said the ongoing cost would be limited to replacement sticker purchases and suggested alcohol tax parks and recreation funds could cover them; he asked that firefighters come to the lake office to obtain passes. Commissioner Kelly moved to approve one annual gate pass for each volunteer firefighter listed on a Jackson County fire district roster; Commissioner Gerhardt seconded and the motion carried 3–0.
