Sheriff reports lobby office work begun and asks to add a part-time dispatcher
Summary
Sheriff Don Jacobs told the commissioners that work has started on a new office in the sheriff's lobby and asked whether the county could hire another part-time dispatcher; commissioners agreed that hiring a second part-time dispatcher would be acceptable because part-time employees do not receive benefits.

Sheriff Don Jacobs reported to the Jewell County Commissioners on April 13 that remodeling work has started to create a new office in the sheriff's lobby.
Jacobs said one person has applied for the advertised part-time dispatcher position and asked whether the county could hire an additional part-time dispatcher. The commissioners indicated they were comfortable approving another part-time hire, noting part-time employees do not receive county benefits.
The exchange was an operational staffing discussion; commissioners did not formalize a hiring action with a recorded vote during the meeting.
