The Wilson County Board of County Commissioners voted on Dec. 17 to amend the county landfill contract to impose a $25.00 per-ton charge for out-of-county trash transferred to Allen County Landfill, effective Jan. 1, 2026. Commissioner Andrew Miller moved the amendment and Commissioner Jerry Scott seconded; the motion carried.
Commissioners discussed that haulers from Green Environmental had been transferring out-of-county material to the county transfer station without that cost being part of Kevin Starbuck’s original contract fee. The board recorded the effective start date for the new rate and treated the change as a contract amendment rather than a new procurement action. No vote tally was recorded in the minutes.
