Local agencies report mental‑health preparedness grant, harm‑reduction vending machines and service updates

During community reports at the Feb. 12 meeting, Rose Robbins said the Mental Health & Recovery Services Board received a bipartisan award of $48,848.42 to develop a Behavioral Health Disaster Preparedness Plan; the board will work with first responders and community partners and expects the final plan on the MHRSB website by Sept. 29, 2025.
Health Department updates included Kelli Owens noting close monitoring of federal funding; Candice Kimmel reported three harm‑reduction vending machines in the county stocked with COVID tests, naloxone (Narcan), Deterra disposal bags and safe‑sex kits and that staff are exploring poverty‑period kits and a Walk‑in Wednesday clinic for flu and COVID shots. Krystina Auble said the WIC caseload is 377.
Other community reports noted Head Start re‑enrollment, Foster Care Treatment Collaborative recruitment and internships to boost the children’s services workforce, Harbor/Ohio Rise capacity and referrals, Charlie Health referrals from Wyandot Hospital, availability of 211 through Open Door Resources, and notice of a Special Needs Prom on May 9.
