County reports restricted opioid dollars filed; approves ARA agreement for Community Corrections grant seeking

County Attorney Susan Bevers told the commissioners that the county’s first reports regarding restricted opioid settlement dollars have been finalized and submitted to the state. She said the state asked whether the county had a committee to vet requests for those funds; Bevers said Jackson County uses JRAC for that purpose and emphasized that restricted opioid dollars must be used within the settlement’s specified buckets; if funds are approved and not used for designated purposes they must be returned.
Bevers also said JL Brewer sought to enter into an agreement with ARA (Administrative Resources) to pursue grant funding for Community Corrections programs. Bevers reviewed the agreement and asked the commissioners whether JL should be authorized to execute it; Commissioner Matt Reedy moved to approve allowing JL to execute the ARA agreement; Commissioner Bob Gillaspy seconded and the motion carried with three yes votes.
