Commissioner Drew Markel reported that the state mandated municipalities broadcast meetings live, record them, store recordings and make them available for public viewing, with a 30–60 day storage requirement. Markel said the state’s expected full-system cost had been estimated at over $200,000 for some jurisdictions, but Jackson County received a quote from NI-Tech for $35,484 that integrates with existing equipment.
The board approved using bond funds to pay NI-Tech’s $35,484 equipment and installation quote; Commissioner Matt Reedy moved to approve and Commissioner Bob Gillaspy seconded, with three yes votes recorded.
