Commissioners pass BOT resolution for Annex; review alternate Health Department property

Putnam County commissioners on Aug. 5 authorized a Build-Operate-Transfer (BOT) approach for a proposed Annex after the Annex Committee recommended the method. Commissioner Rick Woodall moved to pass a BOT resolution; David Berry seconded and the motion carried unanimously.
Separately, the board discussed the Health Department’s property search. Woodall reported the county lost an opportunity to buy a building adjacent to the hospital because the seller accepted another bid. Staff then inspected the former Feld's building on US 231; Joni Young, Brian Williams and Eric Wolfe reviewed the property and Wolfe estimated a potential seller price of $750,000. The transcript records that the property would meet size needs but would require interior construction and that the owner requested a right-of-way reservation for storage buildings behind the parcel. Commissioners said they would view the property in person before deciding whether to pursue purchase.
