EMS reports 91 air flights in 2025 and 49 transfers declined due to staffing; fire chief vacancy to be advertised

Dusty, representing Morton County EMS, reported annual transfer activity for 2025: 91 air flights, 30 ground transfers, and 49 transfer requests turned down due to staff shortages and some being outside the county. The minutes note: "The transfer numbers for 2025; 91 flights, 30 ground transfers, turned down 49 transfers due to staff shortage and some out of County." Dusty also said an EMR class is underway and expected to finish in April, and that relations with the hospital have improved.
The commission discussed the open Fire Chief position. The County Attorney and County Clerk will review the job description, advertise the vacancy and conduct interviews on Jan. 26; the County Attorney will inform the commissioners if an interim chief is needed immediately. The Fireman's Relief Association meeting was scheduled for Jan. 22 and the minutes recognize Larry Dunn for 50 years of service.
