Ellis County commissioners reorganize leadership, approve committee appointments

At its Jan. 13 meeting the Ellis County Commission conducted its annual reorganization. Commissioners voted to appoint Neal Younger as Chair and Nathan Leiker as Vice-Chair for the coming year. The board also approved a slate of commissioner and county appointments to regional boards and committees, including appointments to High Plains Mental Health (alternate), NW Kansas Juvenile Board and WorkforceONE CEOB.
Commissioners formally confirmed departmental heads and county representatives for 2026, listing positions such as County Administrator Darin Myers, Public Works Director Brendan Mackay and Health Administrator Melissa Miller, and designated the Hays Daily News as the official county newspaper. All reorganization motions were approved by voice vote, 3–0.
