County signs MOU with H&R Block to provide tax-prep vouchers for seniors

The Board of Ottawa County Commissioners authorized a Memorandum of Understanding between Paul Beattie doing business as H&R Block and Senior Resources to provide vouchers for tax preparation for senior citizens in Ottawa County. Under the MOU, Senior Resources agrees to reimburse the tax preparer up to a maximum of $100 per tax return. The agreement is effective January 15, 2026, and ends on or before August 30, 2026, unless amended in writing by both parties. The motion was moved by Commissioner Donald A. Douglas, seconded by Commissioner Mark E. Coppeler, and passed unanimously.
The authorization was presented on the Director of Senior Resources' recommendation and approved by the Prosecuting Attorney, per the meeting record. The MOU creates a time-limited voucher program to help seniors access paid tax-preparation services.
