The Board of Clark County Commissioners voted on Jan. 7 to modify its 2026 schedule so the first Wednesday of each month will be held at 5:30 p.m.; all other regular meetings will remain at 8:30 a.m. (Resolution 2026-0025). The change was approved by roll call vote with all commissioners voting yes.
Commissioners also revisited the statutory appointment process for filling a vacant county commission seat. Commissioner Rittenhouse explained the board can appoint an interim member from day one through day 45, but not before day six; she told the body this year is "unique because Clark County has two separate groups who recognize themselves as the Republican Central Committee," and invited Beau Thompson to outline the steps for qualification and filing. Thompson described administrative steps including oath and bond filings and noted the Board of Elections and the governor's approval process for final qualification.
