Neighborhoods ask Pleasanton to address ground‑squirrel infestation at Bernal Community Park

It is a community issue that also affects city property," said Moez Makinijohn, who lives directly opposite Bernal Community Park and requested a coordinated, professionally guided control program. He told council the City had been contacted previously and that Alameda County Vector Control had inspected the area and offered advice.
Other speakers representing affected homeowners described costly property damage and urged the council to direct staff to inspect the public lands, liaise with vector control, and develop a legally compliant integrated pest‑management approach that addresses the park as a source of the colony. City staff said they would follow up with residents and have the relevant departments coordinate on next steps.
