Wabaunsee County signs agreement for Shawnee County to administer WIC services in Alma

Health Department Administrator Ray Finley presented an agreement under which Shawnee County will administer WIC services for Wabaunsee County residents. Under the arrangement, Shawnee County staff will be onsite in Alma on the first Wednesday of each month to provide in-person WIC services to county residents who choose that option.
Finley told the Commission the county currently has 37 WIC clients required to check in once per quarter and said he will continue advocating for offering more in-person availability in Wabaunsee County. "Wabaunsee County residents will continue to receive WIC services at the Courthouse in Alma, if they choose," the minutes state. The agreement preserves access to federal nutrition services locally while administration is provided by Shawnee County staff.
