Wabaunsee County Commission names MacGregor chair, adopts 2026 administrative policies

The Wabaunsee County Commission on Jan. 5 appointed Commissioner Jim W. MacGregor as Board Chairman and Commissioner Nancy Hier as Board Vice-Chairman after a motion by Commissioner Hier that passed 3-0. The board then adopted the Reorganization document as presented by unanimous vote.
The Commission set Stockgrowers State Bank as the depository for active accounts and named the Wabaunsee County Signal Enterprise as the official paper. It approved a $50 per diem for IRS-qualifying overnight events, prohibited charging meals to county credit cards, and set mileage reimbursement at the current IRS rate of $0.725 per mile as of Jan. 5, 2026. "Motion carried 3-0," the minutes record for these actions. The board also adopted the county's official 2026 holiday schedule and designated Oct. 12 as a discretionary day and Dec. 31 as an employee inservice day when offices will be closed to the public.
