Sheriff Alan Benninga told the board about an out-of‑county accident involving a transport vehicle; the employee was not injured but Benninga said the department will evaluate replacement vehicle options.
Benninga also reported that rescue personnel, including Kyle Murphy, recommended purchasing a used lake rescue boat located in Wakefield. After the sheriff inspected the boat and its trailer, the board voted unanimously to buy the vessel for $7,000 from the Sheriff's Capital Outlay Fund. The board also approved two training event attendance requests for sheriff's employees in Salina.
