Commissioners highlight community donations, Stillwater Giving Tree and Styrofoam recycling turnout

During the Jan. 6 meeting Commissioners Carolyn Rice and Mary A. McDonald thanked local organizations for donations that supported foster children and Stillwater Center residents during the holidays. Rice specifically thanked Black Women United, Wilberforce MOLES Chapter, Chosen Church, SunSong, Dayton Children’s staff, Love is a Verb, the Ohio Coalition of Clubs and For the Love of Children (FLOC) for donations including diverse baby dolls, bicycles with helmets and hygiene items.
Commissioner McDonald noted the Stillwater Center’s Giving Tree fulfilled every tag this year for nearly 100 residents. Commissioner Judy Dodge reported on the 20th Styrofoam Recycling Event in Centerville, saying the event had “more than 500 cars come through” and that since the program began the county has collected “over 65,000 pounds of Styrofoam.” Dodge thanked county and city partners and urged residents to follow county social media for future events.
