Neodesha and Fredonia present competing EMS plans; commission asks for written proposal

Brogan Jones, Neodesha City Administrator, and Ed Truelove, Neodesha City Commissioner, updated the Wilson County commission on Neodesha’s current EMS plan and ongoing staffing issues. Jones and Truelove asked the commission to consider their local plan while they continue to recruit and stabilize staffing.
Johnathan Durrett, CEO of Fredonia Regional Hospital, and Todd Ballard, Fredonia EMS Director, presented an alternative proposal for a county-wide EMS service. The commission requested that Neodesha continue to work on its staffing plan and asked Fredonia EMS to submit its county-wide service plan in writing for future discussion.
No formal action was taken at the Oct. 15 meeting on EMS governance or funding; the minutes record only that written plans and further discussion were requested. The commission did not adopt or reject either plan during this session.
