County Administrator Michael Colbert used the Jan. 6 meeting to announce the county’s annual Fatherhood Summit, scheduled for Thursday, Jan. 29 from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. He described sessions on holistic fatherhood support, father involvement in K–12 education, and reconnecting with children after incarceration, and thanked the Office of Strategic Initiatives and Fatherhood Initiative Director Dr. Mike Newsome for their leadership.
“The event is free, but requires registration by Monday, January 26th, 2026,” Colbert said during his comments. He added he was excited to participate as a speaker. The announcement was delivered as part of the administrator’s remarks and no county funds or agenda motions were attached to the announcement in the meeting minutes.
