Court approves inspection, profiling reports, cooperative agreement and routine bills; notes insurance and facility repairs

At the March 10 meeting, the Hemphill County Commissioners' Court approved several reports and routine financial items.
Commissioner Tim Alexander moved to approve the Texas Commission on Jail Standards inspection report; Commissioner Nicholas Thomas seconded and the motion carried. Commissioner Nicholas Thomas moved to approve the racial profiling report submitted by Sheriff Brent Clapp; Commissioner Dale Schafer seconded and the report was accepted. The court also approved a Cooperative Working Agreement with Tralee Crisis Center (motion by Commissioner Tim Alexander, seconded by Commissioner Dawn Webb), and approved the Treasurer's Report and both computer-generated and hand-stamped bills.
The court approved two invoices from Schafer Services—$150 for checking and repairing the exhibition barn sound system and $200 for contract labor at the sheriff's office—with Commissioner Dale Schafer recorded as abstaining on that motion. During announcements, Judge Lisa Johnson said Denman Building Products, Inc. will replace damaged clerk's-vault sheetrock and install a suspended ceiling at a cost of $9,870; Glen Woodside will install new flush-mount fixtures afterward. Johnson also said TAC Risk Management Pool notified the county that its property-insurance deductible (other than vehicles and equipment) will rise from $5,000 to $10,000 for the upcoming year.
